The "Blauwschokker" peas are probably the most extraordinary, old pea variety that exists. It has purple pods on bright green peas. The flowers are colored in a mixture of bright violet and dark purple.

The peas are very tasty, and are great directly from the plant when the peas are crispy.

Peas are really easy to grow. They can be sown directly in the garden soil from around mid-April to mid-June. To promote germination the seeds can be soaked in water for max. 12 hours before you sow them.

"Blauwschokker" is a relatively low bush, but as with all other peas, they need something to climb up at.

You don't need to use fertilizer on peas. They add nitrogen to the soil - actually enough to share with various neighboring plants. Peas only need some sun and plenty of water, so it may be a good idea to water during dry periods.

It usually takes 60-70 days from the time you sow the seeds until you can harvest fresh peas.

Organic seeds.
