Japanese Cherry Blossom trees are called Sakura in Japanese, and it's referred to by the Japanese as their national flower. The Japanese spend much time looking at and admiring their cherry trees - which is easily understood, as the beautiful pink flowers are amazing. Every year the tree is celebrated in Japan with the Blossom Festival.
Japanese cherries are characterized by their small flowers, which is found in both white and different shades of pink. It blooms in early spring.
The leaves is green, but in the autumn they change color to yellow and red.
The Japanese Cherry Blossom tree can also be used as a Bonsai tree. You just need to start early to prune it to achieve the desired bonsai form. If you want to grow your Japanese Cherry Blossom tree outdoor you need to place it somewhere with full sun and - if possible - a place fairly sheltered.
When growing your Japanese Cherry Blossom seeds, place the seeds in the refrigerator for a week. Then soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 12-20 hours. This promotes germination. Then you can sow the seeds in moist potting soil in 1 cm depth. It's a good idea to grow the seeds in a pot with holes in the bottom. This ensures proper drainage of the water. Usually, the seeds will germinate within a month, but it may take up to 10 weeks.
You should water regularly - the soil should't dry out - but be careful when you are watering, so you don't destroy the small plants. In addition to water the plant doesn't require any special care, but use fertilizer once a month.
